The ‘break the cycle’ campaign Is a set of resources based on research that investigated the process of initiation to injecting.

It is designed to support a non-judgemental and conversational intervention with injecting drug users discussing behaviours that encourage non-injectors to switch to that enable drug services to raise the issue of overdose with drug users, in particular opiate users.

The campaign materials consist of:

a briefing paper for workers and injectors interested in the causes and prevention of transition to injecting;

posters with key information;

pads of leaflets; and

a leaflet aimed at improving understanding amongst drug users.
